Jr World Team Trials

Saturday FITA Round

Congratulations to CLJ members Jon Miller and Brenda Temperley along with area archer Dane Petersen for making the 2002 Jr World Team

Other Chicagoland JOAD members who competed at the trials include Corey McCormick (Junior Male Recurve), Caitlin Luetger, Kelsey Robinson (Junior Female Recurve), John Nelson (Cadet Male Recurve), Katelyn Kuchenbrod and Alison Cordes (Junior Female Compound). All winners who gave 100%.

The day started with calm winds and cool temps for the 1st long distance. By the start of the 2nd long distance the the wind was giving shooters problems. By the end of the 1st half the ranking pattern was set and shooters where fighting to keep or improve their position. After a 1 and 1/2 hour  lunch break the shooters came back to wind conditions a good degree worst than during the morning. The 1st short distance was a struggle for many. The last distance was a horse race with it being difficult to make up points if you were down. I thought it was a grueling one day FITA round, fast paced (just one line) and a good test for everyone who will make the team. The top 8 in each division will advance to shoot on Sunday. The leader boards below show the final  positions.

Sunday  Olympic Round and Round Robin

The day started cool and overcast, jackets did not come off until late afternoon! In the morning the Juniors shot the elimination round while the cadets shot the round robin reversing in the afternoon. The elimination round was intense with the order changing frequently
